Originating from the Middle East, the kabob has taken many twists and turns before finding its way onto our grills’ grates. Now we see hundreds of different kabob combinations sold in stores and made in backyards across the country. Before you get crazy with your kabob combinations, it’s important to learn the basics of this popular meal. While only three items are involved, the variation in those items can be vast. Starting with the type of skewer you’ll be using will be crucial to making an excellent kabob. Your choice often is between wooden and metal skewers, with both having their advantages. Wooden skewers allow you the freedom of being able to dispose of them after a single use, whereas metal skewers are valuable for the exact opposite reason.
