Bowling for Rhinos

Samawati the white rhino in the African plain.

Meet Samawati. He's a white rhino. He lives in Africa at a wildlife conservancy called Lewa. And he loves bowling!

Why? Samawati is Swahili for Blue. He was named in honor of Blue Rhino and our long-time support of Bowling for Rhinos, the annual bowl-a-thon of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK).

Today, all five remaining species of rhinos are threatened with extinction. Since 1990, Bowling for Rhinos has raised over $7 million, all of which goes directly to three Rhino Conservation Areas to support each endangered rhino species in their native habitats. In Kenya, AAZK supports the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and its Black and White Rhinos. In Indonesia, AAZK supports Javan Rhinos at Ujung Kulon National Park and the Sumatran Rhino in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park.
