Ingredients:
Black Beans, drained and rinsed
Ground Flax Seeds
Warm Water
Smoked Paprika
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Cumin
Bread Crumbs
Additional Items:
• Burger Toppings (such as vegan mayo, sliced avocados, salsa, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles)
• 4 - 5 Vegan Burger Buns
• Small Bowl
• Large Bowl
• Baking Sheet
• Parchment Paper
• Potato Masher
• Olive Oil
• Paper Towels
• Tongs
• Heat Resistant Gloves
• Spatula
• 1/3 cup Measuring Cup
Directions:
Prepare Black Beans (drying them to help the burger):
Preheat grill to 375℉, set for indirect grilling.
Note: If using a griddle, place the black beans directly on the griddle surface. Skip to step 5.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place black beans on the parchment paper.
Place baking sheet on the indirect side of the grill.
Grill for 20 minutes.
Prepare Flax Mixture:
In a small bowl, combine the flax seed and warm water.
Mix well.
Set aside for 5 - 10 minutes.
Making the Burgers:
Preheat grill or griddle to 375℉.
In a large bowl combine black beans, flax seed mixture, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and cumin.
Mash and mix well with potato masher
Using a measuring cup, scoop out the mixture and make into patties.
Add olive oil to paper towels.
Using heat-resistant gloves and tongs, carefully coat the cooking grids.
Using heat-resistant gloves and spatula, place the burgers on the cooking grids.
Grill for 15 minutes.
Flip over and grill for another 15 - 20 minutes.
Once the burgers are brown and firm, remove from the grill.
Place the burgers on the burger buns and top with your favorite toppings.
Serve and enjoy.
