4 Reasons You Should Grill Your Thanksgiving Dinner

Each year, Americans across the country take time to celebrate Thanksgiving. We gather around with our friends and families, enjoying each other’s company, watching a little football, and most importantly, eating tons of delicious food. But with plenty of people coming over and knowing you can’t leave them disappointed, the kitchen might not cut it this year. That’s why this year’s Thanksgiving dinner should be made on your grill. Here are four reasons why a Thanksgiving cookout will be the best decision you’ve ever made!

1. Worried about Thanksgiving logistics? The backyard is the answer!

It can be difficult accommodating a small group, let alone a large one for Thanksgiving. You can run into a few different logistical challenges if you have too many cooks in the kitchen. Luckily, grilling alleviates a lot of those issues. Moving everyone to the backyard allows the festivities to keep rolling in a much wider space, and gives you the opportunity to do what you love – making delicious food on your grill! The added benefit here is that you’ll also be able to entertain both inside and outside your house, giving everyone an opportunity to mingle, play games, or relax on the couch or patio.

2. Grilling provides an extra cooking surface

Grill masters never need an excuse to fire up the grill, but even if you did, there’s a great and logical reason to make your Thanksgiving via cookout style. With the sheer amount of food you need to prepare, it stands to reason that you could use an additional cooking surface to help make more food in a short amount of time. Getting out of the house and using your grill is another avenue to do just that. From salads to desserts and everything in between, we’ve got some great grill-friendly Thanksgiving recipes for you. So take advantage of the extra cooking surface and whip up some delicious food for your guests!

3. Thanksgiving tastes better on the grill

We’re big fans of grilling because, honestly, it just makes your food taste better! There are few moments that compare to the satisfaction you get after taking a big bite of something that was just prepared on the grill. In this case, grilled turkey will give you and your guests the rich, smoky taste that’s been missing from past Thanksgivings. Try out our Maple-Brined Turkey with Bacon Gravy recipe, or keep things simple with this Savory Grilled Turkey recipe this year. And whatever you do, don’t forget about dessert! We’ve got you covered there too with these grill-friendly Pecan Chocolate Bars and Spiced Pumpkin Latte Cake Bars. These will definitely make a great impression on your crowd, and have everyone firing up their grills when they get back home.

4. Grilling makes cleanup easier

We’ve all been there to see the aftermath of Thanksgiving dinner. A whole meal down, plenty of mouths fed, but suddenly everyone is too tired to help clean up and it’s all on you to make the place spotless once again. Well, fear no more because grilling gets rid of that problem. Rather than having to deep clean your entire place, making Thanksgiving dinner on the grill confines cleanup to just that one area. Because you’ll be cooking your turkey and other grilled items in mostly disposable aluminum baking pans, it’s as simple as throwing out the pans and putting all your leftovers in the fridge. You’ll also need to clean off the grill itself, and these grill tuning tips will prepare you for your next cookout.
