Ingredients:
Ground Beef, grass-fed
Quick Oats, crushed
Egg
Carrot, grated
Zucchini, grated
Sweet Potato, sliced
Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
Hamburger buns, gluten-free
Notes:
• If you do not have gluten-free buns, white or wheat bread is fine. Just avoid anything with dried fruits, nuts, or artificial sweeteners.
• Unsweetened tomato paste (optional)
• Serving sizes will vary. Recommended feeding is 1/4 to 1/3 lb of meat per 20 lb of weight.
Additional Items:
• Small Bowl
• Large Bowl
• Instant-read Thermometer
Directions:
Preheat grill to medium.
Peel and cut sweet potato into 1/2 inch slices. Set aside.
Grate carrot and zucchini into a small bowl. Set aside.
Pour quick-cooking oats into a resealable bag. Close tightly and squeezing out excess air.
Using a rolling pin, meat mallet, or other weighted object, gently crush oats until they are a fine consistency.
In a large bowl, combine crushed oats, ground beef, egg (no shell), shredded cheese, grated carrot, and grated zucchini. Mix well.
⚠ IMPORTANT: Do NOT season! Most seasonings, spices, and herbs are not safe for dogs. Avoid onions and garlic, too.
Divide ground beef mixture into equal-sized balls, about 4 oz of beef for every 20 lb of dog weight. Gently shape into patties for even cooking. Set aside.
Place sweet potato slices onto preheated grill.
Grill sweet potato for 10 minutes, flipping halfway.
When sweet potato slices are soft and slightly charred, remove from heat. Set aside.
Place burger patties onto preheated grill.
Grill for about 5 - 15 minutes, flipping halfway through. Remove from grill once internal temperature of the patties reaches 160°F.
Place one burger on bottom bun, then one slice of sweet potato, then another burger. Top with the other half of the bun.
Option: Add a little unsweetened tomato paste to the top bun before placing on the burger.
Serve at room temperature to your furry friend!
